ComTec Systems Deploys IP Telephony Network for Leading Financial Organization

ComTec Systems, Inc., (“ComTec”) a leader in integration communications solutions for the enterprise market, today announced that it was selected by Newfield National Bank, a leading financial institution, headquartered in Newfield New Jersey, to design, install and support a multi-site advanced voice over IP (Internet Protocol) and converged data communications system. The network connects the bank’s 10 pre-existing facilities back to a corporate center in Newfield New Jersey, which has centralized their operations since 1989. This solution will deliver a significant return on investment for Newfield Bank, with considerable savings realized by combining their voice and data networks and an enhanced customer service advantage over its core competitors.

ComTec designed a Cisco core backbone on a Verizon DS1 point to point network using the NEC IPS 2000, IP enabled PBX (Private Branch Exchange). This installation included a redundant ISDN backup for their data and an NEC award winning remote DMR solution at the branch level. ComTec will also help manage and support the network allowing Newfield to dedicate its core resources to achieving its vision of being recognized as the one of the best financial institutions as measured by its customers and employees. This solution incorporated a mix of IP and TDM technologies along with several advanced applications including unified messaging utilizing NEC AD64 voice messaging server.

The primary product of choice was the NEAX® 2000 IPS-DMR communications platform, a mid-range VoIP system solution that is one of the only products on the market that offers a mix of TDM, IP and remote cabinet survivability. This solution has all of the advantages of a pure IP solution while allowing the customer with the needed flexibility of going TDM to many of its core applications. When considering all of the products on the market the NEAX® 2000 IPS was a clear step ahead of its competitors. This product was Communications Convergence magazines 2003 product of the year and is ranked as one of the top IP/PBX solutions in the industry.

NEC’s robust remote office platform goes beyond industry standards in delivering remote office survivability,” said Ruthann Fisher, publisher of Communications Convergence magazine.

"NEC America has been at the forefront of developing survivable IP telephony solutions, and its failover resiliency options rank among the best in the industry...NEC’s award-winning capabilities are particularly well-suited for industries such as healthcare, banking and hospitality which rely heavily on the availability of voice systems for critical or emergency services.” said Allan Sulkin, founder and president of TEQConsult Group.

The beginning of the implementation process included an IP telephony readiness assessment to plan for the expected capacity of voice and data traffic, to optimize bandwidth utilization and to build redundancy and fault detection into the network.

We were looking for a qualified technology partner that understood our business needs and could provide us with a complete communications solution. ComTec’s project management and technical support services have given us a competitive, technological advantage in the financial market, distinguishing us from other organizations while preparing us for an economical expansion.” said Kathleen Valla, Executive Vice President/Operations, Newfield National Bank.

Information is critical to the banking industry and taking the right approach from the ground up is the key to a successful implementation.  I am really pleased to be working with Newfield Bank and I am confident that the NEC 2000 IPS solution will substantially contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of this organization.” said Michael Vertolli, President of ComTec Systems.
